SweetkinZ Journal, Chapter 2: Tropical Beach Day Dream

Zeddy and his companions headed south on their cozy train ride to the beaches of the Crystal Ocean Waters Hotel. This location boasted breath-taking sea vistas, refreshing waves, swaying palm trees, and a beautiful coral reef. As soon as they arrived at their stop and checked in at the hotel they headed straight down to the beach to play.
“Ahh! Finally here at last!” Zeddy breathed a contented sigh after he and his two friends emerged at the top of a slope that led to the shimmering shore below them.
“This place looks as dreamy as I imagined!” Lavender exclaimed, in awe of the scene, then she turned to Mable, “By the way, how did you like the train ride?”
Mable’s ears drooped, her eyes drifting down toward the ground as her colorful beach ball remained idly forgotten in her paws.
“Well…it was little bit bumpy and crowded, to be honest.” Then she shifted her gaze to the sky while in contemplation. “But this destination is so popular to visit, so I understand. Our overnight train car room was very cozy though!” Mable’s ears perked back up while looking back at Lavender.
“Oh! Then, maybe next time we will try to avoid the most crowded areas of the train for you, okay?” Lavender thoughtfully grinned.
Mable nodded in return with a grateful smile, pleased by the suggestion.
“Hey! I think I see Percy over there!” Zeddy interjected. He pointed one of his front hooves to an orange cat in a lounge chair with an umbrella over his head.
“Looks like he found a nice open space where the other guests have not reached yet,” Lavender noticed.
They jogged down to Percy, also known as Persimmon. The half-asleep cat barely noticed the trio arrive until Zeddy spoke up.
“Percy! Hey there! Long time no see! Came to soak up the sun at this beautiful beach too, huh?”
Percy yawned and peered over the top of his sun glasses at everyone, “Yes. Exactly,” he stretched his front paws upward while still seated in his chair, “Nice to see you too.”
“Percy, meet our friend Mable,” Lavender eagerly introduced.
“Uh, hello,” Mable said shyly, waving her paw at him slowly.
“Mm-hmm… Hello, Mable. It’s good that you’ve come with our friends to the beach. Now you can play in the water with them instead of me,” Percy grinned.
“Oh?” Mable cocked her head, “You don’t like swimming?”
“Not a fan of being wet, let alone swimming, really. I much prefer sunning myself,” Percy replied while leaning back into his chair comfortably.
“You would say that, Percy, wouldn’t you? Don’t worry, we weren’t about to drag you away from your cat-nap,” Zeddy laughed.
“Well, come on then! Let’s go in the water already!” Lavender announced, while turning to trot quickly to the ocean.
“Wait for me!” Mable called, while carrying the beach ball over her head as she ran.
For the rest of the day, Zeddy, Lavender, and Mable played games with the beach ball and splashed in the waves until the sun set.
Once in a while though, when the others were not looking, Percy would wander about to collect seashells, before going back to his lounge chair to nap some more. Not being roped into water-related playtime was a top priority for him. However, watching his friends having the time of their lives out there was enjoyable to him too.
